School in Session April 1 and May 27
School is in session on both April 1, 2022 and May 27, 2022. On the district calendar, these dates are listed as “reserve days” and that there will be no school. These “reserve days” were used When the omicron surge hit our school communities hard in January, and so many of our students and staff were out sick, we opted to use those flexible “reserve days” at that time, on January 7 and January 10.

Welcome to the Vista High School Website

Vista High School, nestled in a quiet, residential neighborhood, offers a safe environment where students can receive personalized instruction in an education program tailored to meet the individual’s needs. Vista High School is an independent studies middle/high school that offers a multicultural education in grades 7 - 12.

Students are counseled and aided in their pursuit of educational and vocational goals beyond high school. Students who graduate from Vista earn a traditional high school diploma and develop a clear vision of what they need to do to claim their goals for their future.

STUDENTS SERVED:
  • Highly gifted students who are not challenged in their regular classrooms and wish to accelerate.
  • Students who face particular challenges-such as health issues or the need to work-that make classroom attendance difficult.
  • Students who, for a variety of reasons, have fallen behind in their studies and need an individualized approach to fill in gaps in their learning or make up credits (not credit recovery).
  • Students who want an individualized approach that allows them to delve more deeply into areas of special interest.

Independent study is not for all students-especially at the middle/high school level;  independent study requires basic academic skills and a level of commitment, motivation, organizational skills, and self-direction.
